Dear Parent or Guardian,
Your student may qualify to earn credit at Palomar College for successfully completing one term of CTE Photographic Imaging 1 at MVHS, the equivalent one year of course work, with a grade of A or B on each permanent grading report. This could save your college bound student between $200 and $2,000, depending on the school your student will attend.
While your student may not be planning to attend Palomar, credits earned at Palomar are transferable by simply having a Grade Transcript sent to your student's college of choice.
All that is required to receive credit is your student's valid Palomar ID Number. I submit grades to Palomar just as I do to Mission Vista High School.
Your student will be assigned a student ID upon Applying for Admission. There are several ways to do this:
· We will register online during your student's class on Wednesday, December 17th. To apply online, your student must know his/her social security number. It is used only to validate the online registration process. The number can be written on a small piece of paper without your student's name. This piece of paper never leaves your students possession.
To apply for entrance, go to www.palomar.edu . . . Select Apply for Admission in the menu on the left side of the screen
· You may register from your home computer, also requiring your student's social security number. The website is www.palomar.edu and then click on Apply for Admission, at the top of the Getting Started menu on the left side of the screen. There may be questions that make no sense, which is the disadvantage of applying out of the class. If you need further information, please contact me at [email protected]. I will try to advise you.
· You may go to Palomar College and register in person. This does not require a social security number—all students are welcome.
· Your student may have already registered at Palomar in another class, or to actually taken a class at Palomar. All I need is their Student ID number.
· If your student has applied, but you don't know the student ID number, you can retrieve the number online. Go to the website, choose eServices from the menu at the top of the screen, click on “Forgot my ID/Password” and then follow the prompts.
You will need your social security number. If you don't have one, you can still register, but you must go to Palomar College in person.
Below are some hints for completing the admission form. Some of these answers may seem incorrect or inaccurate. However, the information will be corrected when and if your student registers for classes at Palomar. If you are not going to Palomar, contact Palomar Records Office during the fall after you have graduated from Mission Vista and request a grade transcript be sent to the school you will attend.
