Camera Vocabulary
For this vocabulary exercise you will be breaking into groups of 5. Each student will be selecting on of the following terms to create a Verbal Visual Word Association(VVWA).
To create a VVWA you will take a piece of paper, fold it in half horizontally, then in half vertically. While it it still folded dog ear the inside center corner. When you unfold this should create a diamond in the center with four other quadrents. You will need to fill out the following information for your vocabulary term.
Once you have completed your card share out with your group so that you all have a good understanding of all of the words. These vocabulary words are really the building blocks for the rest of the term.

- Shutter Release
- Camera Mode
- Camera Menu
- Lightroom

- Center Diamond - The Word
- Top Left - Definition of the Word
- Top Right - Image that reminds you of the definition
- Bottom Left - Analogy/ personal association
- Bottom Right - How it is used in photography

Getting to Know the Digital SLR Camera
- For this project you will be working in groups of 2. Once you have formed a group, go to the white cabinet and get one camera for your group.

- On your weebly site create a new page under the Assignments tab called Intro to the DSLR. You will need to answer the following questions about the parts of the camera. You will also be shooting the first assignment and posting the images to this page.
- Using the camera and the online manual, respond to the following questions:
1. Go to page x - Safety. What are three safety tips that you found most surprising?
2. Go to page 1-3 and find the following parts in the illustration and on the camera, then describe where on the camera you found each part on your website.

- multi selector/ok
- memory card slot cover
- battery cover
- tripod socket
3. Go to page 97. What does the A/M button control on the lens?
4. Turn on the camera and press menu. Navigate through the menu to set up the camera for use. Use the manual to help find the appropriate items in the menu. Explain how do you?
- Delete all images on the camera
- Set the Image Quality to JPEG Fine
- Set the Image Size to Large
- Set the Mode dial to Auto
- Turn the auto Flash Off
- Set exposure compensation to +/- 0
- Check battery charge. If 1 bar or less replace battery
- Set the lens to A
5. Shooting Assignment
We are going to create posters for the word Pathways as a way to get familiar with our D7200 cameras on Auto mode. I want you to go out and look at the world in a new way. Look closely and see if you can find elements that create the basic shapes of letters. Photograph a P-A-T-H-W-A-Y-S.

6. Export Test
We are going to create posters for the word Pathways as a way to get familiar with our D7200 cameras on Auto mode. I want you to go out and look at the world in a new way. Look closely and see if you can find elements that create the basic shapes of letters. Photograph a P-A-T-H-W-A-Y-S.
Try taking pictures in different lighting conditions
- Full Sun (or overcast)
- Shade (deep shade under an overhang if overcast)
- Inside
- Nature close-up
- Industrial elements
- Something abstract
- Shadows
- Constructed
6. Export Test
- Watch and follow the video for exporting
- Export the 6 images at three resolutions: original, 2000, 1000 pixels
- Post in separate galleries all of the images that you can to weebly. Publish the page and navigate to your website, compare the image quality of the images.
- Write about the differences and decide the best resolution for you to export in the future.
