Task 1 - Getting Started With Your Story
You will be working in groups of three. Take a few minutes to select your group. Once groups are formed you will be selecting a random number to select your group's story. Click HERE to see the list of stories.
1. Once you find your story, click on the link to read and listen to your story. Use headphones to listen so that it is not chaos in the classroom. As you listen and read, create a sketchnote about the story, you must include:
Take some time, pause to look up words as you go. Rewind to gather more detail. Post the finished sketchnote to your website.
2. Get together with your group and share out your sketchnote and thoughts about the story. Did you already know the story? Where there new elements you didn't remember from when you were a child?
Then as a group come up with at least 6 ideas of elements of the story that you think would make good illustrations for the story.

- the title, setting, characters and major events. As you listen focus on small details and elements that paint pictures in your mind. Those are the scenes you will want to illustrate.
- Pick out 10 words from the text that are unfamiliar. Define the words either with an image or text in your sketchnote.

2. Get together with your group and share out your sketchnote and thoughts about the story. Did you already know the story? Where there new elements you didn't remember from when you were a child?

- In a text box on your site, list the 6 ideas; include the exact excerpt from the story and how you in vision the image.
- List all of the small visual details that you will need to convey the meaning and mood of the passage.
